    1.Master some new words and phrases:

    2.Go on learning attributive clauses which use "that" and "which".
    3.Learn more about the geography of China- the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and West Lake.
    4.Cultivate the students' patriotism.
    【Teaching procedure】:
    Step 1 Review
    Check the homework.
    Let some students describe the places of interest.
    Step 2 Presentation
    1.Show a beautiful picture of Potala Palace.
    T: Could you guess where it is?
    Ss:It's in Tibet.
    T: Right.
    2.Talk about Tibet and West Lake and present the new words "above, tale".
    T: Could you tell me something about Tibet?
    S1:It's a wonderful place which lies in the wouthwest of China.
    S2:It's a part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau which is more than 4,000 meters above sea level.
    T: Good. By the way, I wonder if you have ever heard of the tale about Xu Xian and White Snake?
    Ss:Yes.
    T: I agree with you. They are well wort visiting.
    3.Write some key words and phrases on the blackboard and explain them if necessary.
    Southwest, part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, above sea level, weather, fantastic, be worth doing
    4.Let the students listen to 1a, try to get the main idea and answer the following questions:
    ⑴Where's Tibet?
    ⑵Is it really worth seeing?
    ⑶How high is the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau?
    ⑷What do they think of Tibet?
    Check the answers.
    5.Let the students listen to 1a again and repeat.
    Step 3 Consolidation
    1.Let the students practice 1a in pairs.
    2.Let the students act 1a out in pairs.
    3.Let the students finish 1b, and check the answers.
    4.Let the students retell 1a according to the key words above.
    Step 4 Practice
    1.Let the students read 2a and try to understand the main idea with the teacher's help.
    2.Let the students finish 2b and check the answers.
    3.Let the studetns underline places of interest mentioned in 1a and 2a.
    4.Let the students close their books and write what they know:
    ⑴Rivers / Lakes
    ⑵Places of interest
    Step 5 Project
    1.Let the students introduce their hometowns of the cities where they live in class.
    2.Let the students describe the most beautiful places in their hometowns to their partners.
